How to seal the seam in the Long Turn Ell

Postby rickharp » Mon Dec 14, 2009 11:25 am

One of the ell's I purchased is going to be exposed in the laundry area and I was wondering how to seal the seam where the two halves are attached. I do not want lint to escape through this seam.

Thank You.

Good question
A few suggestions. Some contractors just use the silver tape to tape the seam from the outside of the Dryer-ell. Also, in a short period of time the lint itself will seal the cracks on its own. And lastly, when assembling you could apply some glue, caulk, sealer to one side of the ell flange. The pipe is almost large enough to get your hand in there part way and smooth the caulk joint out a bit more. I use Goop, great stuff. Perhaps the last one is the most aesthetically pleasing.
